Engineered floating floors are installed either as a floating floor (or can be glued permanently to the subfloor where in-floor heating exists).  With the tongue and groove system, no glue is needed yet the floorboards still lock tightly into place, with no noticeable joints.  Each individual board is produced like an open sandwich of three different, distinct layers.  The top layer consists of a solid wood species, according to choice (e.g. oak, birch, pine etc.).  This surface layer is finished with five coats of UV-Hardened Acrylate or a special oil mixture of natural vegetable oils, which are both extremely durable.  The middle layer is cross glued spruce for strength.  The bottom layer is one ply spruce.  At Windsor Plywood we sell engineered floors that are manufactured from the finest materials.  At our Coquitlam location, we recommend Karelia.  Please take a look at our website and theirs to get a feel for which style and finish you prefer.  Once you have an idea, drop by the store where our staff will help you pinpoint exactly the right look and feel you are after.
