Painted Mouldings

Mouldings are about the most economical way we know of to add character to a plain room.  Ideal for creating strong horizontal or vertical lines to visually widen or heighten a room.  Our selection of mouldings is extensive no matter what species or profiles you are looking for.

So what is the point of using mouldings in your home?  Whether your wish to increase the overall value of your home, showcase your own individual sense of style, or to reduce finishing costs there are a number of reasons people buy mouldings.  Mouldings offer you the opportunity to design and create the home you have always imagined, room by room!  For this reason Windsor Plywood Coquitlam supplies the largest selection and assortment available on the market.  With pride, we sell only those vendors who have proven to supply superior, long-lasting products.  Over 36 years we have tested a wide range of merchandise on the market but have only been satisfied with a select few.  Accra and Mouldings & Millwork have both established solid reputations.  For this reason and more, we know that our customers will be satisfied and pleased with every purchase.

Do Try This At Home:

-  CHOOSE COMPATIBLE PROFILES
Baseboard should be thinner and is usually wider than the casing.  When choosing profiles it is critical that in combination, they visually work well together.

-  WINDOWS & DOORS
Using the identical large casing around both window and door tends to accent the window.  A smaller complimentary window casing would de-emphasize the window and make it look smaller.

-  MEASURE UP!
Make a list of the specific lengths you’ll need and then round your measurements up to the nearest foot to allow for cutting and trimming.  Whenever possible, try and use shorter pieces closer to the actual length required, rather than buying a longer piece and cutting it into several shorter lengths.  Allow for 10% extra for cutting and waste.

-  WHICH WAY IS UP?
Chair rails serve a function as well as a decorative accent to plain walls.  Installed at chair-back height it will prevent wall damage.  They are ideal for creating a transition between different wall colours, or paint and wallpaper.  We like to install chair rails with the thickest part up.  Wainscot is a variation on chair rail and it’s used to cap paneling on the lower part of the wall.

-  CUTTING
A mitre box is all you need for 45° or 90° angles.  C-clamps should be used to secure the moulding in the box for more accurate cuts.  Always use scrap wood between the clamp and the moulding to prevent surface damage.
